Specifications: Disabling specification fields
complete

It would be a great advantage if one could choose whether an item specification field is active/passive. This means that individual product specifications can be removed from goods for a period of time, but that the records do not disappear, so they can be activated again at a later time if desired.

Hi P.H. When is it appropriate to do?

Lars Friis Hansen: As I wrote, if you wanted to hide product specifications for a period of time - there can be many reasons for that.
Our specific challenge is that we have videos on many of our merchandise with a link to the Youtube video. Right now we would like to hide these, as they will appear in the item description anyway. To do this, we can either go into all items and remove the link or remove the box from item specifications. But if the box is removed, the content disappears as well (thumbnail and link) and then we have to start all over again if we want to activate it again at a later time.
It could also be that we want to hide a field to reduce the amount of product specifications displayed on an item. However, if we then get a lot of inquiries from customers who miss the field we have removed, we cannot activate it again without adding it on all items where appropriate.

P.H. Johansson: Thanks for replying. You can do this inside your layout, where you can define which specifications to display and in what order to display them.

Lars Friis Hansen: It doesn't work for us, as we have different product specifications for wine and spirits (in different specification type). In addition, we have a lot of product specifications (currently 40 for wines and 10 for spirits), so it is quite a task to maintain the sorting order when a new one is added.

P.H. Johansson: That's okay. I just wanted to make sure we couldn't use the current functionality.
