Item groups - hidden but not deleted

Hide in navigation
Since we do not want to disable the product groups for SEO purposes, we just want to be able to hide them so that they cannot be searched at all after the campaign is over. I have therefore tested with both Hidden and Hide in navigation and neither of them hides the product group from the webshop — the product group can still be searched in the search box.
For example, /Black-Friday/ says “Hide in navigation” inside the product group, but this happens when I search for Black Friday in the search box:
If I choose Hidden instead, it still shows the item group in the search bar, so there doesn't seem to be a difference between Hidden and Hide in navigation.
How do we solve this problem that we prefer not to disable, but just want to hide the product group from the visitors?
This I consider a very big mistake that the system cannot do this. We are penalized on our SEO efforts, as we are then forced to disable the campaign item groups all the time. Won't you please reverse this with your platform development? It should lie in the platform that we can hide a group of goods from the search bar.
But what are the 3 functions so intended? Surely they must have a function.

Hello everyone.
Is there a mood that “hide from nagivation” hides both the product group as a subcategory (in the left menu) and as a search result?
Or is it necessary to have two separate settings
hide from nagivation
hide from search

Hi Lars, I think it makes perfect sense to keep the two functions separate, but at the same time it should be possible to wing them both off if you need to.

Lars Friis Hansen: I think it will be best if it is two seperate options that can be selected separately or together.
