Unfortunately, when one subject code is replaced by another, it can mean that much of the work that one has put into the old subject code is lost. This is because a new course is being created with the new subject code, and this can — in good English — be quite tricky.
To solve this, we have developed a function where one can set which subject code replaces another.
Here's how
You can find the function under Settings — right in the bottom corner. It looks like this:

When you press the icon, you will get a list of all subject codes. It is possible to search by either the course code or the course name. In this example, “The road as a workplace” has been searched. Here you can see that subject code 47136 is a replacement:

By clicking on the course you can see that subject code 8254 replaces the current course code:

Choosing a replacement
If a replacement for the subject code has not yet been set, you will be presented with a window where you can select a new replacement. Here you can choose between Global or Site:
Global: The change applies to all sites on the platform, i.e. to other schools as well.
Site: The change applies only to your own site.
We recommend that you choose Site, as schools often transition to new subject codes at different times.
We would encourage you to put it per Site as it may vary when you switch to using the new subject code.

As you go further, you will get a list in which you can choose which subject code should take effect.
What happens at the shift?
When you select a new subject code, all data from the old subject code will be transferred to the new one, including:
  • Descriptions
  • Course Agents
  • SEO data
In addition, automatic redirects are also created so that no work is lost.
The change does not happen immediately, but is performed as a batch job each night, where the system switches out the selected subject codes.
