Able to apply multiple discount codes to one order

Today, a customer can only use one discount code on their order. If the customer wants to use more discount codes, the customer must make a new order per discount code.
We currently spend quite a bit of time in our customer service to either ask the customer to do as above, or to enter the discount codes in the comment box, after which we must manually deduct the discount codes orders amount as well as enter and deactivate the respective discount codes.

We want to be able to use gift cards as a means of payment at the same time that the customer uses, for example, a welcome discount code. Thinking this falls under the same as gift cards pt will be keyed as a discount code.

Hello lars,
We were told that the discount code system in shopify is about to do this. Does this mean that we would soon be able to use 2 or more discount codes at check-out?
